 The Business Development Manager is responsible for the marketing of accounts assigned by Company's President and Executive Vice President. Business Development Managers are responsible for driving sales by developing relationships with new and existing clients that will lead to new work opportunities, creating strategies to achieve new business, and building strong partnerships.  They are also responsible for project pursuit and customer satisfaction efforts throughout the business development process, from opportunity identification to client cultivation to proposal preparation to contract execution and project completion.

General Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and expand relationships with current and future client opportunities in Progressive Design target industries in the Tidewater region.
  • Directing business development activities including developing and qualifying leads, collection and analysis of competitive intelligence, proposal coordination with technical staff, presentations and negotiations.
  • Position Progressive Design for maximum competitive advantage, including prospecting and qualifying new potential partners and customers.
  • Responsible for making accurate representations of the services offered by Progressive Design.
  • Responsible for scheduling lunch meetings, customer entertainment, and technical presentations.
  • Initiating client follow-up on current projects and new leads.
  • Brief senior management on prospecting activities and status.
  • Facilitate team communication, coordination, client updates/changes, and interaction on development projects.
  • Coordinate marketing efforts to expand company exposure to targeted groups
  • Maintain strong line of communication with the Company's President and Executive Management.

Minimum Qualifications/Job Requirements:
  • Strong entrepreneurial abilities and a passion to succeed.
  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or construction management preferred.
  • Minimum 2  years’ experience within the heavy industrial market.
  • Demonstrated client development and sales success in heavy industrial marketplace.
  • Understanding of engineering and design as well as construction in the heavy industrial industry.
  • Knowledge of and access to existing client and engineering networks.
  • History of success securing major projects.
  • Extensive experience in public speaking and technical writing.
  • Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage, motivate and influence people and business.
  • Exceptional relationship management skills.
  • Senior level client relationship skills including experience in negotiations, articulating complex solutions and benefits.
  • Outstanding needs analysis, competitive positioning, business justification and closing skills.
  • Ability to interface with corporate level executives, stakeholders, management and financial decision makers.
  • Ability to evaluate estimating and pricing strategies.
  • Skilled at qualifying potential customers and developing a deep understanding of their initiatives and budget requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivated, integrity, professionalism, the ability to work well with others, and a great desire to be successful.
  • Demonstrated track record and success against quota.
  • Comfortable in a fast paced and growing environment.
